 | Ian joined Abellio in May 2011, following his retirement from TfL in November 2010. At TfL he was responsible for the Docklands Light Railway, London Tramlink , London Overground and the Mayor’s plans for integrating and implementing Oyster onto London’s transport network. A series of major infrastructure upgrades were implemented including upgrading the DLR for the Olympic Games and four route extensions. Similarly the London Overground franchise was let bringing new standards to suburban rail in London together with a major infrastructure upgrades including the East London Line extension project which opened in 2010. Prior to joining TfL he held a series of senior positions on British Rail, including Divisional Manager, Birmingham, Inter City Manager - West Coast Main Line and Managing Director Railfreight Distribution responsible for freightliners and introducing freight services through the Channel Tunnel. Awarded a CBE for services to the rail industry in the January 2011 New Years Honours list. |
