![]() | Merseyrail comprises the urban rail network serving Merseyside and the City of Liverpool. It is one of the most intensely used rail networks in the UK. With 1,200 employees, Merseyrail runs almost 800 trains per weekday on a clockface, regular interval timetable (15 minute frequencies, increasing to 5 minute on city centre sections) and carries 110,000 passengers per weekday. ![]() Merseyrail operates 66 stations, including the core underground network, which includes 6.5 miles of tunnels, 4 underground stations in Liverpool City Centre and one in Birkenhead.
