 | Since winning our first rail franchise – Merseyrail – in 2003, Abellio has introduced a variety of innovative services to the UK. These have ranged from combined ticket offices and convenience stores at Merseyrail – Mtogo –, to the new CyclePoint facility at Northern Rail’s Leeds station, and the Corporate Travel Service we provide for corporations. The development of all these concepts has had a number of common threads which underpin the way Abellio does business. The aim has not been primarily to increase revenue but to improve the quality of life for our passengers and for the wider community in the towns and cities served by our companies. The new services have also been designed to help deliver the wider economic, environmental and social policies promoted by our clients. As such, we have worked with government departments, passenger transport executives and councils in the design and implementation of our new services. A final common theme is that the new services have been created by adapting the best features of the Dutch Railway for the UK market, underlining Abellio’s commitment to best practice exchange. | |
