Today (12 August 2020) British Transport Police very sadly confirmed three fatalities, and other multiple injuries, following a major train incident near Stonehaven.

“My whole team at Abellio UK send their condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of those affected by today’s tragic incident at Stonehaven. We are offering all the support we can to our colleagues in ScotRail and Network Rail who have been dealing with this and I would like to thank sincerely all of the railway staff and emergency service responders who have worked tirelessly throughout the day in such difficult circumstances.”

“We are continuing to work closely and quickly with the emergency services at the site, and alongside Network Rail Scotland, we are engaging with the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) as they commence their investigations into the cause of this tragic incident.”
